Liberal Arts and Humanities
Liberal Arts and Humanities is a multidisciplinary program that provides students with a strong background in the humanities and social sciences. The program enables you to gain knowledge in a wide range of academic fields - from social sciences such as anthropology or sociology to the study of philosophy, history, gender, or art. The program's signature feature is a widely open study curriculum with only a couple of compulsory courses so that you are free to pursue your individual interests and specialize in chosen academic field(s).
The program is ideal preparation for further post-Bachelor studies in the humanities and social sciences.
The full-time study program is taught in person at the Faculty in Prague. This means that your classes will be scheduled throughout the week at the Faculty headquarters.
The language of tuition is English. The standard length of study is 3 years.
The application deadline is March 31, 2024. Make sure that you officially submit and close your online application by midnight (Central European time)! No late submissions are accepted.

The tuition fee is 3000 euros per academic year. The fee is generated at the beginning of each academic year - you do not have to pay us anything before enrollment.
The tuition fee is the same for both our EU and non-EU applicants.
There are two admission requirements:
pass the online entrance exam
submit your high school diploma
After you pass the exam, you will be asked to provide proof of your previous education - learn more about the process here.
1. Online Entrance Exam
The entrance exam consists of an excerpt from an academic text - you are asked to summarize the text and its main points and answer three follow-up questions based given text.
The exam is meant to test reading comprehension, English proficiency, and individual thinking – it does not focus so much on factual knowledge of specific academic texts, but on your abilities to understand and analyze ideas put forth in the given textual excerpt.
If you would like to prepare for the exam, you can start by reading relevant academic books – works of Hannah Arendt or José Ortega y Gasset should provide a good starting point. However, you don’t have to limit yourself to these authors – reading and analyzing any sort of academic literature relevant to the study program should give you the skills necessary to pass the exam. Alternatively, you can sign up for our preparatory course which allows you to take a mock exam and receive feedback from our academic staff.
2. Proof of Previous Education
After you have successfully passed the entrance exam, you will be asked to complete the second admission requirement - submitting proof of your previous education. In the case of our BA program, we ask you to submit proof of completed secondary education which can be proven by a high school diploma.
Do not worry if you have not yet received your diploma at the time when you are submitting your online application - you have until September 30 to complete this requirement.
Diploma Recognition
If you graduated outside of the Czech Republic, your diploma needs to go through a process of recognition or nostrification. This process validates that the diploma you are submitting is equivalent to a high school diploma you would receive after finishing high school in the Czech Republic.
